Listening to the Higsons
it was the most awful show i have ever paid to see.
and this is coming from one of the biggest flaming lips fans i know.
ive been responsible for turning on more people to that band only to
be disappointed to the fullest extent. no drummer(the best part of the
band) only to be shown on a video screen. how lame is that. prerecorded
tracks for drums. thats as bad as milli vanilli lip syncing. cornylious
was horrible. robin hitchcock was lame(i didnt really have too much of
an opinion but my friend who went with was a huge fan of his and commented
about the slackness of the performance). sebadoh was probably the only decent
part of the show but they are no dinosaur jr. the opening band whoever they
were had a bjork wannabe playing keyboards but they showed the most promise
if they got a REAL drummer and not some crap drum machine. i do extensive midi
programming also so im not biased against it, its just they didnt pull it off well.
the guitarist/theremin guy did some way cool shit with that though. and the bassist
was really cool. such a disappointment on the part of flaming lips, very very sad.
i am such a big fan of them but i guess if he keeps on his current path i will be
regulated to their early albums. feel free to email me back for further details
but i think that covers the jist of the evening.
